Allerton Artist Retreat /Monticello

Allerton Artist Cliff Retreat was a project designed for eight visiting artist to come live and work at Allerton Park in Monticello, IL. The park spans 3,600 acres encompassing forests, gardens, sculptures, and the Allerton Mansion. The requirements of the project were to create a main building with indoor and outdoor gathering space, living spaces, and working studio. The main building featuring the kitchen and dining areas, hangs over the river to fully immerse the artist into the surrounding nature. The living spaces are split into two apartments with a shared studio space in between. This allows for the artists to have their own individual creative spaces as well as have a shared work space to collaborate in.
