Kerry Levin Prize /Pygmalion Festival

Spring 2020

Pygmalion is a festival held in downtown Urbana-Champaign every September. The fetival features atists, musicians, poets, and a variety of other cretives. Kerry Levin, a graduate from the University of Illinois, sponsored the senior studio design project to design a stage for the festival. We spent four weeks working with the client, Pygmalion, and the sponsor, Kerry, to create and finalize a final design and product. The studio class has since picked one design and is now in the build phase of the project to fully fabricate the final product. A challenge of this project was to stay within the restricted sponsored budget amount of $2,000. This was my design proposal for a stage made out of pallets, used tires, and pool floats. The colors and circular elements are a play on Pygmalion’s logo which is four colored circles and a crown. This design can also be broken down and rearranged into three smaller stages creating a park like feel to the stage area.
